An Electromyographic Investigation of Subluxation of The
نویسنده
چکیده
An electromyographic investigation ofpatients with subluxation ofthe patella has been carried out on the parts of the extensor apparatus which actively contribute to the alignment of the patella, both before and after the operation to correct this disorder. The electromyographic pictures have revealed a sharp fall in the activity of the vastus medialis, with full recovery to normal values after a corrective operation. Even if the aligning function of the patella is altered by a variety of factors, the present study confirms the importance of the vastus medialis in the pathogenesis of malalignment of the extensor mechanism.

Persistent Medial Subluxation of the Ulna with Radiotrochlear Articulation
Two patients-one with a terrible triad fracture dislocation and one with an anterior olecranon fracture dislocation—weretreated for maltracking of the elbow (medial subluxation). The radial head articulated with the lateral trochlea while theulnar trochlear notch was perched over the medial trochlea. The late revision surgery could not correct the subluxationbecause the joints were accustomed t...
متن کاملCast immobilization for treatment of dorsally subluxated proximal interphalangeal joint in a Thoroughbred mare
Subluxation of the proximal interphalangeal joint (PIPJ or pastern joint) is an uncommon condition that occurs in the forelimb or hindlimb. Thoroughbred racehorses rarely show dorsal pastern subluxation (Thoroughbred ringbone) secondarily to an injury to the soft tissues supporting the fetlock. A 4-year-old Thoroughbred mare was presented with signs of lameness, swelling of the dorsal aspect of...
متن کاملComparing the Effects of Plyometric Training with and without Vessel Occlusion on Electromyographic Parameters
Purpose: Doing plyometric training with and without the vessel occlusion is an effective practice for rapid increase of muscles strength their hypertrophy. We evaluated the effects of plyometric training with and without the vessel occlusion on electromyographic parameters. Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, 22 females were selected through convenience sampling method. They were random...
متن کاملThe Effect of Static Magnet Therapy on Pain-Free Shoulder Passive Range of Motion in Patients with Shoulder Subluxation after Stroke: A Randomized Clinical Trial
Introduction: One of the stroke complications is hemiplegia, which can cause subluxation of the shoulder joint and reduce the passive range of motion of the affected shoulder, resulting in limited movement. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of static magnet therapy on pain-free shoulder passive range of motion in patients with shoulder subluxation after stroke. Methods: This clinical tri...
متن کاملThe Stabilising Effect of the Anterior Oblique Ligament to Prevent Directional Subluxation at the Trapeziometacarpal Joint of the Thumb: A Biomechanical Cadaveric Study
Background: The trapeziometacarpal joint (TMCJ) is inherently unstable, relying on ligament restraint to preventsubluxation. Subluxation of the thumb in a dorsoradial direction is often observed in clinical practice, either after acuteligament injury or more commonly with osteoarthritis (OA). This subluxation follows loss of function of trapeziometacarpalligaments that stabilise this joint, res...
